Bridal Makeup

How I achieved my perfect Bridal makeup look.

Step 1
Preparing your canvas.

Cleanser
Start by using a pH balanced cleanser. The pH level of most skin cleansers is slightly higher than 5.5 so the cleanser can break down any dirt and oil on your skin. Soap - especially bar soap typically has a pH level of 9 to 12 which is WAY too high if you are trying to keep your skin moist. Cleansers with lower pH levels leave your skin intact instead of breaking down the fatty tissue. I recommend KIEHL'S skin cleanser  http://www.kiehls.co.uk/skin-care/by-category/cleansers-scrubs-masques/ultra-facial-cleanser but there are plenty to choose from.

Moisturize
After you have cleansed your skin, you will need to follow by moisturizing the face and neck. Try to avoid the eyelids as the moisturizer wont help set your eye-shadow. Let your moisturize set for 2-3 minutes before more applications.

Prime
The primer I used and recommend is Max Factor's  Facefinity All Day Primer http://www.boots.com/en/Max-Factor-Facefinity-All-Day-Primer_1460224/
Priming your skin is really an important part of a bridal look. The primer sets the foundation making your makeup stay on throughout the whole day and night right the way through to the evening. Overall extending the wear of your makeup.

Step 2
After Preparing Your Canvas

Foundation
Find a foundation that is as close to your natural skin tone as possible. Apply the product using your fingertips or a small makeup sponge. Blend the product outwards.

Concealer
Use a concealer that is two shades lighter than your natural skin tone. Many brides don't get enough sleep leading up to there wedding so be sure to conceal tired eyes or any blemishes you may have. Using a concealer that is two shades lighter will emphasize you having a perfect complexion and give you a nice glow. I used Studio Finish SPF 35 concealer by MAC fragrance free and water resistant.

Loose Powder.
Set your foundation and concealer with loose powder. The powder will also stop your makeup from traveling and going patchy.
I used L'Oreal nude Magique BB Powder for light skin.

Step 3
Eyes

Shadow

Using Urban Decay's original Naked palette. http://www.urbandecay.co.uk/naked/naked-colour/naked
Start by using Virgin eye highlighter from the palette to emphasize and brighten the inner corners of the eyes. Using the same color emphasize just under the brow above the eye socket for bright eyes with Virgin. Go onto the center of your eyelid with Half Baked again using the Nude palette. Blend the Half Baked color to the outer corner of your eyes. Lastly blend eye color Creep from the palette inwards from the corner of your eye following the crease of your eye to the middle. You should now have contoured sexy eyes.

I applied my eye shadow with a flat brush and blended with brush 217 both brushes by MAC

Find all MAC brushes at the following link including flat brush and 217

Liner

Define eyes by using MAC Blacktrack Gel Liner. Using a liner brush take the gel from the inner corner of  your top eye lash line to the outer corner, bring this to a point. Repeat process on your other eye. You want to do the same process on your lower lash line. Join the point you created with the gel to your bottom line. The line should look similar to the images below on the bottom line and the top.

Eyelashes & Mascara

For this look I didn't use any false eyelashes. If you only have small lashes or just wanting to give your eyes an extra dramatic look for your big day then I recommend Number 4 strip natural lashes by MAC
Blend the false lashes with Mascara. Use waterproof mascara. For this look I used Rimmel London's Flash Waterproof Mascara, there may be happy tears on your big day so this mascara is certainly a must have. Complete your eye by putting the mascara on the lower lash line. This process will help add more intensity and fuller volumised lashes.

Step 4
Cheeks

Highlight
Highlight the top of your cheekbones below your eye areas with a white based shimmer powder. I used MUA's Pearl based Oyster eye-shadow.

Contour
To contour your cheekbones you want to take your blush and follow your cheekbones around to the top of your outer brows. Using your blusher brush you want to do this in a circular motion.
I used MAC Mocha Powder Blush for the perfect bridal rosy cheeks.

Step 5
Lips

The lips I wanted to keep simple so the eyes could look more dramatic and dominant.
I highlighted my cupids bow with a simple white pencil liner by Miss Sporty.

I then blended the liner above my cupids bow, this exaggerates fuller looking lips.
I then filled my lips in using MAC's soft burgundy lip pencil.
To finish my lips I used Please Me lipstick by MAC

Please see below for end results.
I hope this look helps you on your big day.
